Embracing A Rainy Day
I think what the saying if you can;t beat them join them means is to embrace whats going on around you and not fight it.
Today was a horrible miserable cold day. We had to go to an OUTDOOR festival. It rained. Not dainty raindrops bur big fat ones that chilled you to the bone. Normally I would be miserable. What I did was just go with the flow. I wen to the market nearby an bought the kids spicy samosas. Then I gave them each 2.00 and told them to buy whatever they wanted in at the indoor farmer’s market. Brownies and Belgian cookies won out over cheese and sliced meats .
I then decided to tackle a craft I had been avoiding for several months- a cross stitch that I want to do but the headache of setting it all up is the hard part- organizing embroidery floss, etc. I was was missing one colour out of 38. And of COURSE it was the colour I needed to start with ( in cross stitch you start in the exact center of the pattern) ARGH.
I persevered! I made hot cup of tea an displayed Chopin while I counted out my stitches despite the small setback. Forgot how relaxing it could be- I haven’t cross stitched since I was pregnant with my youngest.
It is chilly and damp but embracing the day and enjoying a few simple pleasures made it a good one.
