We had a really nice family day on the weekend. The weather was just outstanding and we went on a charity walk for our church. Spent the afternoon with some friends and then just after supper my husband and I surprised the kids by taking them to see a movie. Going out to the movies has become a rare treat- seems we have to take out a second mortgage to afford a simple movie with a bit of popcorn and a drink. We go to the movies MAYBE twice a year.
I had a coupon sitting in my wallet for a while for 2 adults plus some concession stuff and had been waiting for the right movie to come along.

We went to go see the movie Iron Man, based on the popular comic book hero. My hopes were high as there was a lot of hype and I love the director, Jon Favreau ( I am HUGE Swingers fan). I have also always quite liked Robert Downey, Jr.

The movie was GREAT! Worth every penny. It had lots of action but not too much to terrify younger kids. There were some scenes that might be too much for kids - mainly ones that deal with the terrorists but it is not over the top.

Robert Downey as Tony Stark was perfectly cast. Gwyneth Paltrow also surprised me- she was really good. If you are able try and see this movie on the big screen.
